National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. At Sevenly, we have chosen The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) as our cause partner of the week. We want to tell you all about the resources they offer and the world-changing work they do in the world.

Their theme last year was, Come As You Are. In 2020, they are building off of last year’s success and continued relevance, and are repeating  #ComeAsYouAre again for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week! From February 24th to March 1st, they are encouraging the community to embrace this year’s theme, Come as You Are: Hindsight is 20/20.

NEDA - National Eating Disorder Association

NEDA wants those with an eating disorder to reflect on the positive steps they’ve taken...
— including those stemming from setbacks or challenges —
...that move them closer to acceptance of themselves and others.

The National Eating Disorders Association is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. The United States has at least 20 million women and 10 million men who will suffer from an eating disorder at some point during their lives.

Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses that affect people of all gender, ethnicity, size, age, or background. Eating disorders are serious with the second-highest mortality rate of all mental health disorders. Only opioid addiction is higher.

Since eating disorders are often a widely misunderstood illness, care and support can seem inaccessible. Individuals commonly feel helpless, hopeless, and frightened. This is where NEDA comes in! Their programs and services raise awareness, build communities of support and recovery, fund research, and put life-saving resources into the hands of those in need.

Support individuals and families affected by eating disorders and serve as a catalyst for prevention, cures, and access to quality care

NEDA envisions a world without eating disorders

Whether you have been personally affected by an eating disorder or care about someone who has, NEDA's programs and services are designed to help you find the help and support you need. Recovery is possible and they are here to support you.

NEDA wants you to know that you can Get Screened. If you have concerns that you might need help for eating or body image concerns, take this step to get help.

If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, please contact the NEDA helpline at nationaleatingdisorders.org/helpline-chat. For crisis situations, text “NEDA” to 741741.

At Sevenly, we have powerful graphics that spread body-positive messages. When you shop the National Eating Disorder Week Collection, 7% of your purchase is donated to this organization and their important, world-changing work. We know that you will want to join us in showing your support!

José Andrés says, “There is no place too far or disaster too great for our chefs to be there with a hot plate of food when it’s needed most,” and the funds donated from the Some Good Merch collection have helped the WCK team do just that.
